Shawn McDonald – Illustrator Third book

A serious man in a dark suit with a tie, arms crossed, exudes confidence. The dramatic lighting highlights his grey beard and intense expression, emphasizing professionalism.

I’m Shawn McDonald, known creatively as Skillz to Pay the Billz—a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator, and entrepreneur based in Morgantown, West Virginia. My work blends visual storytelling with bold creativity, bringing imagination to life through expressive color, movement, and emotion.

As the founder of Simply Blessed Studios LLC, I’ve developed a unique artistic voice through original styles like Chromatic Distortionism and Distorted Realism. My approach combines vibrant color, dynamic shapes, and narrative depth—so each piece feels alive, layered, and full of personality.

As an illustrator, I focus on creating engaging, visually rich imagery that connects with viewers of all ages. I take pride in translating ideas into meaningful visuals that bring stories to life in ways that are both imaginative and memorable—especially for young readers.

My entrepreneurial journey started early. At just 10 years old, I was already working toward owning my own business—mowing lawns in my neighborhood and even hiring a friend to help. That experience sparked the mindset and work ethic that still drives me today, eventually leading me to build Lawn Care Complete LLC, a business I continue to operate.

Whether I’m working on canvas or illustrating a story, my goal is always the same: to create art that inspires, tells a story, and leaves a lasting impression. I believe every story deserves visuals that ignite imagination and stay with the audience long after the final page.
