How Did I Start as an Indie Author?
I started this book by realizing my family of cats had given me a wealth of tales and information to share. I have been observing their behavior over many years and have learned that through their expressions and actions, they have the ability to teach numerous life lessons while also being very entertaining. I decided the best way to convey this information was to capture it in children’s books, where it could be described as well as illustrated.
I began researching the following: how to write a children’s book, various book formats, how to publish on Amazon, and where I could get the best advice on becoming an indie author. I read numerous books and articles on the subjects and found an organization that helps indie authors.
This organization is the Alliance of Independent Authors. I became a member and have had the opportunity to utilize their reference material and learn from their newsletters, etc. This is also where I found information on the illustrator and publishing company I am using for my first book. I would recommend ALLi to any indie author.

About Mary Annie
Mary Annie was born in a small town in West Virginia. After working for a chemical manufacturing corporation for 35 years, she decided to pursue one of her passions from her retirement bucket list. Writing was a goal she wanted to accomplish once her family was grown and she had the time to concentrate on her dream.
Having determined that she had the best subject matter possible, she wrote her first children’s book about her cherished cats. She plans to add at least three more books to this series and hopes her audience enjoys them as much as she did writing each one.
